ADULT + TEENS Jiu Jitsu

Our Adult + Teen Jiu Jitsu Program is the perfect way to get introduced to Jiu Jitsu basics.  

This program will teach the basics of Jiu Jitsu and self-defense and is open to everyone: from the parent who has never practiced martial arts but always wanted to learn to the experienced adult who has trained in the striking and grappling arts. In fact, we especially encourage parents who have never trained martial arts before or who are looking into getting back into shape because we know the benefits of training first-hand.

In fact, we are busy Seal Beach parents ourselves!

Both beginner and experienced Jiu Jitsu practitioners will expand their knowledge of the fundamental positions in Jiu Jitsu. Students will be taught the fine details of each position, as well as how to react in each position, offensively and defensively.

Program Emphasis:

  • Introduce the fundamental positions of Jiu Jitsu - Stand-up, Guard, Side Control, Mount Control, & Back Control to Students in a fun and healthy learning environment

  • Students will be taught basic, but important Jiu Jitsu movements that are vital to the development of a Student's foundation and understanding of technique. 

  • Students will expand their knowledge in fundamental Jiu Jitsu positions and incorporate more advance technique to either attack or defend in those specific situations

  • As Students progress, they will develop and refine the "Jiu Jitsu game" that they enjoy the most

  • Students will engage in more sparring, specific and live sparring, in order discover certain nuances of positions that only sparring will reveal.

  • Build a fun and supportive community of local parents and adults who are invested in the healthy development of their children, their families, and themselves.

  • Gain the physical benefits of Jiu Jitsu training—such as weight loss, stress reduction, lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and Body-Mass Index.

ADULT NO GI

Our Adult No Gi class is led by Professor Richard Alvarez. Students are introduced to No Gi Jiu Jitsu that heavily incorporates wrestling takedowns and other grappling techniques. Students utilize their understanding of Jiu Jitsu to adapt to a new type of training that removes the Gi uniform and any accompanying grips the Gi uniform may allow. No Gi is a great way to develop and even better understanding of body weight leverage and positioning.

WOMEN’S ONLY Jiu Jitsu

In our Women’s Only Class - Students receive instruction on self-defense techniques and sport Jiu Jitsu training in a safe and empowering environment. This class is suitable for all levels, beginners and experienced students.
